By deciding to apply for this position, you are submitting information about your educational and professional career in addition to your personal details.
You were asked to upload your CV via an application form. Your CV is then automatically processed and the data is saved in the applicant database. Your attachments are processed by text-recognition software and the recognised content is saved under your data record. Your original documents are converted into PDFs and saved in your data record. Your original files are deleted.
When submitting your application documents via e-mail, they are automatically sorted and stored in our applicant management system. All sent documents (cover letters, curricula vitae, certificates and other supporting documents) as well as the information contained within them, are saved in this way.
If you submit your application documents in person or via post, we will initially digitise them and then also store them in our applicant management system. We will then immediately return the original documents to you.
You alone are responsible for the content of the uploaded documents. Please ensure not to send us any file attachments containing viruses or worms. Personal data that you submit to us should, in general, not contain the following:

The applicant portal is operated by concludis mbH based at Frankfurter Str. 561, 51145 Cologne, Germany. The applicant portal is hosted on servers belonging to the company Hetzner Online GmbH based at Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany.
Your CV is automatically processed by the parsing tool of the company, Textkernel. The parsing takes place on a server in Germany. Your data is deleted following the parsing process by Textkernel.
For what purpose is my personal data processed and to whom is it forwarded?
Your application data is processed exclusively for application purposes by the GFZ. The data is not to be passed on to third parties.
Processing and deletion of your CV data
You have the right to receive information about your data and to correct it. If you want to amend or delete your CV, please contact recruiting@gfz.de.
If you don’t delete it manually, your application data is deleted automatically from the system 90 days after the application process concludes.
We are entitled, at any time, to discontinue this service or to delete your data either partially or in full without providing a reason.
In addition, you may, at any time, revoke your consent to the processing of the data without incurring adverse consequences. Send your revocation to recruiting@gfz.de. In the event of revocation, all data will be physically deleted after receiving the request and will not be able to be restored.
We take precautions to protect your data and to prevent third-party misuse. To do so, measures such as encryption (SSL encryption), firewalls, anti-hacker programs and manual security precautions are used. SSL encryption is active when the lock symbol in your browser’s address bar is locked and the address begins with “httpS://”. Please note that JavaScript™ technology is employed on our pages.
Service disruptions, suspension or changes or data deletion
We do not guarantee that the service will be available at specific times. We cannot rule out disruptions, interruptions or any failure of the online service. The servers are regularly backed up. However, in so far as data is submitted - regardless of in what form - you are recommended to make backup copies. We reserve the right to change, extend, restrict or completely discontinue the service at any time. We therefore have no liability for deleted data or data loss.
